There are strong indications that a chartered helicopter that left Lagos for Ilorin yesterday morning might have crashed somewhere between the two cities. Street Journal’s investigations revealed that suspicion that the helicopter had gone down stemmed from the fact that it was not sighted in Ilorin neither did it return to its departure point and there has not been any word from those in it.
As at yesterday evening, Street Journal was told that search and rescue efforts were already on and a lot of places were being combed.
Around 8 pm yesterday, the Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Dr. Harold Harold Demuren said the helicopter was yet to be found. Speaking on the telephone yesterday, the Director General said the helicopter was heading to Ilorin from Maryland, Lagos. He said “we are worried about the situation of the helicopter which left Maryland this morning and is yet to be seen in Ilorin.” He also disclosed that the helicopter had three people on board, the captain and two other people.
