Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje has been appointed as the Acting National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He will act as the party’s National Chairman until the election of a new Executive Committee in March 2012.
Abubakar Baraje was the PDP’s Acting National Secretary until the onus fell on him to replace Dr. Haliru Bello Mohammed, the former Acting National Chairman who has since been appointed as the Minister for Defence.
Sequel to Baraje’s appointment, the party’s National Executive Committee appointed Musa Babayo as its Acting National Secretary.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary,Rufai Ahmed Alkali also made it known that the NEC has also approved the Constitution of a 21 member Committee to propose amendments for the PDP Constitution to align it with provision of the Electoral Act and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Professor Alkali said, in line with the amendment of the Electoral Act of 2011.
