The Senate on Wednesday confirmed the appointment of Justice Dahiru Musdapher as the Chief Justice of Nigeria. Before the confirmation, Musdapher had been appointed as the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria after the retirement of Justice Adolphus Katsina-Alu.
Sixty nine-year old Musdapher attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria from 1963 to 1964, University of London, School of Oriental and African Studies 1964-67 Inns of Court School of Law (Middle Temple) 1964-67 and he was at the Nigerian Law School between1967 and 1968. He became a Justice of the Supreme Court in 2003.
Justice Musdapher answered a number of questions on legal matters from Senators.
After the session with the Chief Justice, the Senate screened Darius Dickson Ishiaku, the Ministerial nominee from Taraba State whose appointment was also confirmed. Ishiaku’s nomination came after the Senate rejected the last nominee sent from Taraba.
