The Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati Wal-Jihad, often referred to as the Boko Haram sect seems not to be in a hurry to leave the city of Kano. Despite the announcement by the Joint Task Force that it arrested four members of the deadly sect in the city after a gun duel on Wednesday; the Boko Haram sect launched another rifle attack on Thursday killing a yet to be ascertained number of people who reportedly included two officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps. The killings took place between the FRSC Office and the residence of the Acting Inspector General of Police. There were also reports of some others killed on the Bayero University Kano (BUK) Road.
The Deputy Corps Public Education Officer of the FRSC however issued a statement in which it was pointed out that no Road Safety Officer was killed in the attack, The statement further made it known that “the FRSC was only involved in the post-incident rescue operations in the normal line of duty”.
