Imoke Wins Again In Cross River

Days after he was sacked as the Governor of Cross River State  by the Supreme Court, Senator Liyel Imoke has been returned as the validly elected Governor of Cross River State after Saturday’s Governorship election. Imoke who flew the Peoples Democratic Party’s flag polled a total of 451, 544 votes to beat all the other contestants hands down. Usani Usani of the Action Congress of Nigeria was the closest contender with 31, 026 votes while Patrick Okomiso of the All Nigeria Peoples Party came third with 2,235 votes, followed by Mrs Ima Nsa-Adegoke of the Labour Party with 1,922 votes. The Returning Officer, Professor James Ekpoke disclosed that Imoke was returned as the Governor “having satisfied all the requirements of the law and scoring the highest number of votes.”
