The Christ’s Chosen Church, located in Rukuba Road, Jos in Plateau State was hit by a loud explosion around 11.40 am. The explosion was followed by sporadic gunshots.
A suicide bomber drove into the church premises and detonated the bombs loaded in his vehicle just as he approached the church building. The impact from the explosion led to the collapse of the building. Though two people were confirmed dead instantly, about 48 others were rushed to the hospital.
Another attack was carried out on a church the same day in Biu, Borno State. Three gunmen reportedly opened fire while worshipers were holding a service in the church.
Meanwhile, reprisal attacks have been reported in Jos and at least 6 other people have been killed. The Boko Haram sect has claimed responsibility for both attacks.
