Another set of heads have rolled as a result of the Boko Haram Insurgency as President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday sacked the National Security Adviser, Gen Owoye Azazi and Dr. Haliru Bello Mohammed, the Minister for Defence. Street Journal found out that the decision was reached after an emergency meeting of the National Security Council.
The sack was announced by Dr. Reuben Abati, the President’s Spokesman. Azazi is to be replaced by Col. Sambo Dasuki,
a son of the deposed Sultan of Sokoto who also served as ADC to former military President, General Ibrahim Babangida. Dasuki was named as part of the 1995 Lawan Gwadabe plot during the Abacha years. He had also served as the Managing Director of Nigeria’s Security Minting and Printing Corporation.
Meanwhile Street Journal published a story on April 29, 2012 in which it was stated that Gen Andrew Azazi was on his way out of the cabinet of President Goodluck Jonathan over his comments on the Boko Haram crisis.
