Oba Oladele Olashore Passes On At 77

The Ajagbusi Ekun, Aloko of Iloko Ijesa, Oba Oladele Olashore has joined his ancestors. The departed monarch who once served as Nigeria’s Minister for Finance died in the early hours of Saturday.

The monarch who owned the Olashore International Schools in Iloko Ijesa paid his dues as a banker, rising to become the Managing Director of First Bank Nigeria Limited. After his exit from First Bank, which was occasioned by his opposition to certain policies of the military government, he formed his own bank, Lead Merchant Bank. His school is listed among the best private schools in Nigeria.

He was known to be a stickler for discipline and he never believed in frivolities as his integrity mattered to him a great deal. In his days as Minister, during one of his trips to England, instead of staying in a 5-Star hotel at the expense of the government, he chose to stay in his home in West London.
