The terrorists in Nigeria defied the calls for peace in the holy month of Ramadan as suspected Boko Haram members struck at two police formations in Sokoto State ion Monday. A bomb explosion hit the Unguwar Rogo Police station around 11.30 am while the other attack occurred at the Police formation in Marina which also houses the office of the Assistant Inspector General of the zone.
The Marina attack was carried out by a suicide bomber who reportedly detonated bombs loaded in a car. Police sources disclosed that the suicide bomber detonated the explosives after he was denied entry at the gate. A police constable, Danjuma Suleman was killed in the process while several other people were injured in the attack.
People living in the neighbourhoods disclosed that the intensity of the explosions were high as as it shook buildings around.The number of casualties cannot be readily ascertained.
The attacks came just about three days after the Sultan of Sokoto advised against all forms of religious extremism.
