Professor Barth Nnaji, Nigeria’s Minister of Power has resigned his appointment. The President’s Special Adviser on Media, Dr. Reuben Abati confirmed the resignation as he disclosed that President Goodluck Jonathan has accepted Prof Nnaji’s resignation. Though no reason has been given, Street Journal’s findings revealed that the move might not be unconnected with the fact that a company owned by Prof Nnaji made a bid for the Afam Power Station towards the privatization of Nigeria’s electricity company, PHCN. He has also been locked in a row with PHCN staff over what would accrue to them as severance benefits. As of the time of filing this report, neither the former Minister nor his spokesperson could be reached for comments.
