Nigeria’s female U-17 team, the Flamingoes on Tuesday defeated their counterparts from Azerbaijan by 11 goals to nil in the ongoing FIFA U-17 Female World Cup. Incidentally, Azaerbaijan is the host nation and cannot go beyond the preliminary round having lost an earlier match to Colombia.
Five of the goals were scored by Chinwendu Ihezou while Halimatu Ayinde and Tessy Biahwo scored a brace each. Halimat Yakubu and Joy Bokiri scored a goal each.
The Flamingoes played a draw in their first match against Canada and will face Colombia in their next match.
