Jonathan Appoints New Service Chiefs

President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday retired three service chiefs and announced their immediate replacements.

Though the move is believed to be in the bid to further improve the security situation in the country, Street Journal gathered that all the security chiefs are due for retirement either by the virtue of age or years of service.

Vice Admiral O.S Ibrahim has been appointed as the new Chief of Defence Staff while Rear Admiral D.J Ezeoba becomes the new Chief of Naval Staff. Air Vice Marshall AS Badeh takes over as the new Chief of Air Staff while Lt Gen Ihejirika retains his position as the Chief of Army Staff.

The President thanked the outgoing chiefs for their meritorious service.
