Kidnapped Osun Speaker’s Wife Regains Freedom

Mrs Muibat Salaam, the wife of Hon Najeem Salaam, Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly regained her freedom on Saturday after four days in the hands of kidnappers. The Honourable Speaker’s wife was abducted in Ejigbo, Osun State on Tuesday and by Wednesday, they had been in touch with the family of their victim, demanding a ransom of N 200 million.

Street Journal gathered that Mrs Salaam was moved to Ogun State by her abductors after she was seized in Ejigbo. Luck however ran out on them as they tried to move their victim to another location. A police team, acting on a tip-off met the gang at Ogunmakin, a village in Ogun State territory, some kilometers to Ibadan and the kidnappers who were not willing to let go of their victim reportedly engaged the police in a gun battle which lasted for about ten minutes. Two of the suspected kidnappers reportedly lost their lives while three others were arrested. Though the Ogun State Police PRO, Muyiwa Adejobi could not be reached as of the time of filing this report, findings revealed that the arrested kidnappers were being held at the Headquarters of the Ogun State Police Command in Eleweran, Abeokuta.
