Nigeria Loses 4 Soldiers In Darfur

By NewsAdmin on October 3, 2012

Nigeria on Tuesday lost four of her soldiers on a peace-keeping mission in Darfur. The soldiers who were part of the United Nations Mission in Darfur died in an ambush in El Geneina, West Darfur on Tuesday evening. The attack took place near the UNAMID Headquarters and it involved a Nigerian patrol team. Apart from the four soldiers who lost their lives, eight others were seriously wounded. The soldiers were shot at from different directions by their attackers.

UNAMID’s Force Commander, General Patrick Nyamvumba condemned the “criminal attack on peacekeepers who are in the service of Darfur’s people.” He also called on the government of Sudan to bring the perpetrators to justice.
