Another incident that would raise questions on the security situation in Nigeria occurred on Sunday as a loud explosion rocked a church located inside the Armed Forces Command and Staff College in Jaji, Kaduna State. Two suicide bombers drove into the St Andrews Military Protestant Church just as the Sunday service ended. The first suicide bomber detonated his explosives inside the church premises causing pandemonium as people scampered for safety. Just as people gathered to help the injured and carry the dead, the second suicide bomber drove in and detonated the bomb in his vehicle right in the midst of those who had gathered to help thereby increasing the number of casualties.
Before now, Jaji was believed to be one of the safest places in the country. Though 11 people were reported dead, the figure might rise due to the number of those who sustained severe injuries.
