Though counting went on all night, victory became sure for Obama around 5.20 am on Wednesday as projections revealed that he would win Ohio, one of the key swing states in American elections. By that time, he had crossed the 270 college votes normally required to win Presidential elections in the United States. About an hour later, the President had amassed 290 college votes against Romney’s 200.
Right after the victory, a message came from his twitter handle saying “this happened because of you, thank you”.
Mitt Romney called the President on phone after which he appeared on stage in Boston, Massachusetts to give a concession speech. In the speech, Romney prayed that Obama would be successful in guiding America.
