Alhaji Lamidi Onaolapo Adesina, a former Governor of Oyo State is dead. The late politician died in Lagos on Sunday.”Lam”, as he was fondly called by his admirers ruled Oyo State between 1999 and 2003. He was a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly in the Second Republic. He was until his death the leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria in Oyo State. He was seen as one of the strong pillars that held the party’s members together.
Hew was buried in his Felele home on Sunday. Lam who was born on January 20, 1939 had been on admission at the University College Hospital after which he was transferred to St Nicholas Hospital in Lagos.
The well attended funeral had Governors Raji Fashola, Abiola Ajimobi, Ibikunle Amosun and Rauf Aregbesola in attendance. Former Governors Omololu Olunloyo, Bisi Akande, Bola Tinubu, Niyi Adebayo and Olusegun Osoba were also there. The likes of Alhaji Yekini Adeojo, Majekodunmi Aborode and Senator Kamorudeen Adedibu put political differences aside to honour the departed politician.
The funeral prayers were led by the Chief Imam of Ibadanland who extolled the virtues of former Governor Lam Adesina.
