Terrorism seems to have taken another dimension in Nigeria. After several attacks on masts and base stations of telecommunication companies, the terrorists’ real war against telecoms companies in Nigeria commenced on Saturday morning.
Suspected members of the Boko Haram sect drove two bomb-laden vehicles into the premises of the Airtel office located near Malam Kato Square, Sabon Gari, Kano. Eye witnesses disclosed that the first car rammed into the gate and the driver detonated the explosives while the second suicide bomber drove into the building and even fired shots at security operatives before the explosives he carried went off. He was however felled in the course of his daring exchange of gunfire with the armed security men on duty.
Four people were confirmed dead as a result of the two explosions while a yet to be ascertained number of people were injured.Firemen were seen trying to put out the fire that resulted. Men of the Joint Task Force have cordoned off the area. Another explosion was also reported at a facility belonging to MTN, another telecommunication company in the city.
