The kidnapped mother of the Speaker of the Bayelsa state House of Assembly , Hon. Kombowei Benson regained her freedom from her abductors around 10 pm Monday evening.
Madam Betinah Okunwa Benson was abducted over a week ago by gunmen who stormed her residence Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State in two speed boats.
While confirming Madam Benson’s release, the Speaker’s Media aide, Preye Kariamo said no ransom was paid, though that could not be confirmed at the time of filing this report.
The Speaker had earlier linked his mother’s kidnap to the passage of the anti-cultism law in the state , part of which borders on kidnapping.
The Speaker also confirmed that though she was released in good condition, he had to make his 78-year-old mother go through a medical examination.
