He first made the arrest known via his handle on twitter as he tweeted “some policemen just arrested my friend and I for taking picture of the wind mill farm. We’re being taken to Rimi Division.”
Minutes after he tweeted of the arrest, he gave an update, which read “apparently there’s been some untoward developments relating to the project. Police station blown, French expatriate kidnapped, project stopped.” He also updated on what transpired at the station as his next update read “DPO at Rimi Station, DSP Hamisu says since the unfortunate developments, all activities around the project have been viewed with suspicion.” When a message was sent asking him for the offence on which he was arrested along with his friend, Odewale’s response was “no charges yet, we’ve being taken on suspicion.” Trying to give an explanation, he p
ointed out that “according to DSP Hamisu, the project was barely 1-2 weeks to completion when the French consultant was kidnapped. He’s not been seen since then.”
After they had been taken to the Rimi Divisional Police Headquarters, Odewale’s subsequent tweets indicated that they were moved to another location. “After preliminary questioning at Rimi Division, we’re now being transferred to the State CID”, he tweeted again.
The last tweet that came from his handle read “now at State CID’.
A response eventually came from him around 2.23 am the following morning that “I am fine now and everything is okay”.
