While many Nigerians are still reeling in shock over the sudden demise of Susan Oluwabimpe Filani, better known as Goldie Harvey in the country’s entertainment world, speculations are already preceding the report of the autopsy which is expected to be carried out on Friday. The singer gave up around 7.30 as she had to be rushed to the Reddington Hospital on Victoria Island when she suddenly took ill.
One of her close friends, Denrele Edun, who was there when she breathed her last disclosed that Goldie was full of life before she suddenly took ill. He said she died of pneumonia, which is an inflammation of the lungs which results mostly from excessive cold and infection of the lungs. Such infections normally attack the alveoli, the air sacs in the lungs.
The last official engagement she attended was the 55th Grammy Awards which held at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles, California last weekend. She died shortly after she arrived in Nigeria from the US. According to a release signed by the CEO of Kennis Music, “Goldie, 31, died on Thursday after she complained of a severe headache shortly after her arrival from the United States where she went to witness the Grammy Award. She was rushed from her Park View, Ikoyi, Lagos residence to her official hospital, Reddington, Victoria Island, Lagos, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival at exactly 7:30pm in the evening”.
