Indications again emerged that President Goodluck Jonathan’s cabinet is set to be reshuffled, and very soon too. The Federal Executive Council meeting which normally holds every Wednesday inside the Presidential Villa by 10.00 am did not hold on Wednesday. Though no official reason was cited, it might not be unconnected with the President’s trip to Egypt, France and England where he will be meeting different heads of Governments on issues concerning Nigeria.
The President is currently attending a summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, holding in Cairo, Egypt.
Wednesday’s meeting is of particular interest to millions of Nigerians as President Goodluck Jonathan had indicated that portfolios would be given to the two Ministers who took their oaths of office on Monday. Meanwhile, as of 11.40 am, there was no sign that the meeting would hold.
Though in the abscence of the President, Vice President Namadi Sambo usually presides over the Executive Council meetings but findings revealed that the meeting have been shelved due to the much anticipated cabinet reshuffle. It is being said within the Presidency that the VP apparently does not want to be the one to announce the portfolios and the change of positions, Street Journal also gathered that a number of key members of the Federal Executive Council accompanied the President on his official trip.
