The recent terror attacks in Kano State, especially the bomb attack on a fully loaded passenger bus at the New Road Park in Sabon Gari have started taking tolls on the socio economic life of the state. The State coordinator of the NYSC, Salisu Yakassai disclosed at the closing ceremony of the orientation exercise for the corpers that out of the 2,400 corps members that were deployed to Kano State in the Batch A of the 2013 service year, about 900 have redeployed to other states.
The coordinator disclosed that the corpers sought to be redeployed to other states where they felt they would be safer. Yakassai stated that the remaining corps members would be deployed to rural areas of the state which are believed to be relatively safer.
While assuring those who stayed back of their safety, the Kano State Deputy Governor, Adhullahi Umar Ganduje urged them to make good use of the job opportunities that would be offered to them all over the state.
Before the recent bomb attack which claimed more then 30 lives, there had been several terror attacks in which bombs and assault rifles were used. Some health workers were gunned down where they had gone to administer vaccines on children in the state some months ago.
