The leadership of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) and Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) have formalized the party’s fusion into the All Progressives’ Congress (APC). The ACN was officially laid to rest on Thursday at the party’s 2013 convention which was attended by more than 4,000 delegates, all of who approved the merger with three other parties to form APC.
At the convention held at the Onikan Stadium in Lagos, the delegates approved the broom which was the symbol of the ACN as the symbol of the APC,The constitution and manifesto of the new party were also adopted.
Lawal Shuaibu, the Chairman of the convention committee described the convention as “the first installment of the consummation of the merger which started last February.”
The congress had leaders like Chief Bisi Akande, Ashiwaju Bola Tinubu, the ACN Governors and Senator Chris Ngige among others in attendance.Gen Muhammadu Buhari, Chief Tony Momoh and Governor Rochas Okorocha too were there.
