For the second time in three months, a fire incident was on Monday reported at the Information and Communication Technology building at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Abuja.
Mr Kayode Idowu, the Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman made it known in a statement that the fire started at the office of the former Director, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). He stated that men of the fire service were able to bring the fire under control and that it did not affect the electoral commission’s facility. Street Journal gathered that the entire floor was evacuated while the fire raged.
The Press Secretary gave indications that the fire might have started from an electrical fault, though he said investigations were still going on. A similar incident occurred in the building on January 7, when the office of the Director of Voter Registration went up in flames.
