Ehi Okomoyon, a former Managing Director of the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company has been apprehended by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Street Journal gathered that Okomoyon’s arrest on Sunday was connected with the currency bribery scandal being investigated by the EFCC. Securrency, the Australian company that won the bid to make polymer notes for the country’s use admitted that it paid bribes running into millions of dollars to some officials in Nigeria’s financial sector in order to boost its bid for the job.
Former Central Bank Governor, Chukwuma Soludo had earlier been questioned by the anti-graft agency over the same issue. While Soludo was the CBN Governor at that time, Okomoyan who resigned recently when N 2 million cash got missing at the Printing and Minting Company was in charge then.
