The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, May 29, 2013 a public holiday to mark Democracy Day. Minister of the Interior, Comrade Abba Moro who made the declaration known via a statement urged Nigerians to continue to pray for the peace and unity of Nigeria.
He also urged Nigerians to deepen their participation in democratic governance so that the baton of good governance would be successfully passed to the coming generation. Comrade Moro congratulated Nigerians on the attainment of yet another successful year of the transformation agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan.
May 29 has been tagged Democracy Day in Nigeria after the country returned to democratic rule on that date in 1999.
