Former Golden Eaglets’ Coach, Fanmy Amu In Police Net!

Fanny Amu, the coach of Nigeria’s World Cup winning 1993 Golden Eaglets is in police net. Amu was arrested for assaulting a man who was simply identified as Okechukwu on the suspicion that the man was sleeping with his wife.
Street Journal gathered that the incident occurred while the man was taking a walk in Surulere, Lagos. Apart from beating Okechukwu up, Amu allegedly tore his clothes.
Okechukwu went on to report the incident at the Bode Thomas police station, leading to the arrest of the coach.
The woman believed to have been the cause of the incident was invited by the police and she claimed to have been present when Okechukwu was attacked. She also told the police that she and Fanny Amu separated in 1991 and that the coach has since married another woman who has borne him four children.
The woman wondered why Amu suddenly showed interest afain years after they have both moved on.
The incident was confirmed by Ngozi Braide, the PRO of the Lagos State Police Command who disclosed that Amu would be charged to court for assault. Meanwhile, Okechukwu claimed to have lost the sum of N 40,000 and a wristwatch as a result of the attack.
