Indications have emerged that the Governor of Plateau State, Jonah Jang is set to emerge as the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’Forum. For some months now, there have been speculations that the Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi would not win a second term as the Chairman.
Governors Ibrahim Shema and Isa Yuguda of Katsina and Bauchi States respectively have indicated interest in the position. The declaration of interest by Shema and Yuguda points in the direction that a consensus might be required to ensure that things do not degenerate especially as analysts believe some of Amaechi’s opponents have external support. Investigations however revealed that Jang will be the wild card as he will be supported by all the parties interested in the race. Most of the Governors have been looking forward to the emergence of a Chairman that will leave none of the camps aggrieved.
