Alhaji Ali Monguno, the former Minister who was kidnapped on Friday has been released by his abductors. He was released around noon on Monday. He was welcomed home by crowds of sympathizers who had thronged his Maiduguri residence.
87-year-old Monguno, a former Minister for Petroleum was kidnapped last Friday as he came out of the mosque where he had gone for Friday prayers. Street Journal gathered that his abductors demanded for “alms” and did not specify a ransom figure.
It could not be ascertained at press time whether ransom was paid to secure his release or not. Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State has appealed to sympathizers to allow him to rest for some time before going to visit him.
