Aftermath of Ifo Killings: Ogun Police Gun Down 3 Robbers!

. Arrest 1 With Bullet Wound

Three days after 4 members of a vigilante team were shot dead by dare devil armed robbers in Onihale Community in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State, the state’s police command announced on Monday that one of the suspected perpetrators of the act has been apprehended. The suspected robber who reportedly escaped with bullet wounds was apprehended in a church.

The PRO of the Ogun State Police Command, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi made the disclosure via a press statement. The statement read in part ‘ as a follow-up to the killing of 4 Vigilante members at a filling station in Onihale, Ifo area of Ogun State, and the promise made by the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State CP Ikemefuna Okoye, to fish out the perpetrators of the act, the Policemen attached to Onipanu division, Otta engaged some armed bandits in a fierce gun battle at Oko Bale, Ilogbo, Otta (some kilometers away from the scene of Onihale killing) at about 0330hrs of  Monday, June 24.

The encounter led to the death of 3 armed robbers who had earlier attacked the Vigilante men around Ilogbo Otta. Items recovered from the armed robbers include one made-in Ghana locally made triple barreled gun, 7 live cartridges, one rod, rope and cellotape. Their corpses have been deposited in the mortuary’.

Adejobi also stated that “one of the robbers who attacked and killed the 4 vigilante members in Onihale, Ifo on Friday, June 21  and escaped with bullet wounds has been arrested by a team of Policemen attached to Otta led by the DPO Otta CSP Gabriel Dibie on Saturday 23rd June, in Otta area”.

The identity of the arrested robbery suspect was given as Babatunde Sotayo ‘m’, 28yrs. According to the police spokesman, he was arrested in a church in Otta, after a tip-off, he sustained bullet injury on his right leg. Adejobi further stated that “his arrest has equally led to the arrest of additional 3 suspects including one Dauda Yekini, 33yrs, a herbalist and armourer to the robbery gang. Other 2 suspects are Quadri Adeosun, 22yrs and Matthew Abiodun 22yrs”.

The PPRO also assured that the Ogun State Police Command will continue in its efforts to rid Ogun State of hoodlums.
