American 100m record holder, Tyson Gay has disclosed that he will pull out of next month’s World Championship in Moscow having tested positive for a banned substance. The sprinter was informed on Sunday by the US Anti-Doping Agency that one of his samples came back positive from a May 16 out of competition test.
Gay who won the American 100 and 200 metres titles last month said “I basically put my trust in someone and I was let down.” He has also informed that he will be pulling out of a meet in Monaco so as to be at the USDA Headquarters when his second sample is to be tested.
Jamaican sprint star and former national 100 metres record holder, Tyson Gay also tested positive for a stimulant during last month’s national championship. His agent confirmed the development on Sunday.
Doping has been a major source of concern in most sports. Ben Johnson, the Canadian 100 metres champion was stripped of his Olympic gold medal in 1988 after testing positive for Stanozolol.
