Less than 72 hours after four of their counterparts from the Peoples Democratic Party were booed and pelted with stones and other missiles at the Port Harcourt Airport, nine Governors in the All Progressives Congress camp on Thursday paid a solidarity visit to Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State following the political crisis that has plagued the state for some time now. The APC Governor’s team was led by the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola. Governors Rauf Aregbesola, Kayode Fayemi, Ibikunle Amosun and Abiola Ajimobi. The Governors of Imo, Nassarawa and Zamfara were represented by their deputies.
Like their colleagues that paid a similar visit two days ago, the Governors held a meeting with Governor Amaechi who is the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum. At the meeting with the Rivers State Governor, the APC Governors advised him to embark on a personal visit to the President and brief him on the security situation in the state.
