His 14-year travail while facing a murder trial notwithstanding, the Nigeria Army has officially disclosed that Major Hamza Al-Mustapha who was the Chief Security Officer to General Sani Abacha while the latter served as Head of State is still enlisted in the army.
This was made known at a briefing by Colonel Joe Agbim, Chief of Staff to the Army’s Director of Public Relations. He said “with regards to A;-Mustapha’s release, well I want to confirm that he is still in the army. The case is going to be handled administratively by the army in line with the harmonised terms and conditions of service”.
The former CSO and Alhaji Lateef Shofolahan were discharged and acquitted by the Court of Appeal last week after a 14-year legal battle over the murder of Alhaja Kudirat Abiola. The verdict of the Appeal Court has been criticized by many.
