A three storey building located at 29, Oloto Street in Ebutte Metta, Lagos collapsed on Thursday morning, killing 7 people while many others were trapped inside. Officials of the National Emergency Management Agency disclosed that the building collapsed around 2.30 am. Rescue efforts started as promptly and a number of survivors,including 2 children and 5 adults have been pulled out from the rubble.
According to neighbours, occupants of the building had to evacuate the place after hearing strange sounds around 1 am. It was also pointed out that they noticed some cracks on the wall of the building when they got out.
Men of the Nigerian Police Force, Fire Service and NEMA as well as volunteers were at the scene still searching for survivors as of the time of filing this story.
The Ebutte Metta incident happened weeks after a similar one in Mushin, another part of Lagos State.
