In the bid to reduce the wave of crime in Ogun State and environs, men of the Ogun State Police Command, on Monday bust a den of suspected cultists in Igbesa area of Agbara in the state. The Command’s spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi disclosed that the cultists were nabbed while they were having a celebration around 1.30 pm.
According to a statement signed by DSP Adejobi, “the police anti crime teams led by the Divisional Police Officer, Agbara, CSP Ayo Sonubi, had placed these young men under surveillance due to the intelligence report sent by the command’s Intelligence Bureau in the area on the deadly plans of these suspected cultists who have equally been perceived as hoodlums engaging in nefarious activities in the area.
Some of these suspects include Ojo Razak aged 28, Abioye Ismail,22, Oladapo Akin Akala,21, Oluwaseun Adegboyega,24, Orepodun John,20, and one other whose name has not been ascertained’.
Adejobi also told Street Journal that the same anti crime patrol in Agbara arrested some suspects who had free access into a company in Agbara and stole raw materials of polyethene worth 3.5 million naira at about 12.30 am on Monday.
The suspects, Oluyemi Ayodeji,m, 26, Omololu Odedina,m,22, Opeyemi Bolarinwa,m, 24, and Kabiru Iyanda,m, 38, had gained entrance into the company with the help of some workers in the company who had arranged some boys to load the stolen goods at that odd hour.
The police spokesman disclosed that the suspects, who had fled the scene before the arrival of the police team, were given a hot chase by the policemen and were later arrested along Atan/Agbara road. The goods and the truck with registration number XY 862 FKJ used by the suspects were recovered by the police.
He said all the suspects arrested will soon be transferred to the State CID Eleweran Abeokuta for further investigation and prosecution.
