As politicians and the electorate gear up for the November governorship election in Anambra State, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) on Friday disqualified former Central Bank Governor, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo and five other aspirants from contesting on the party’s platform. Those disqualified alongside Soludo are Emmanuel Nweke, Oseloka Obaze, Ogbuefi Tony Nnaechetta, Dr Chike Obidigo and Chinedu Francis Idigo. The Chairman of the governorship screening committee,Alhaji Tayo Sowunmi issued a statement in which it was pointed out that some of the candidates failed the screening. Reasons given by the committee included the inability of some of the aspirants to produce their voters’ cards and evidence of tax payments as well as the inability to prove financial viability to pursue the governorship project. The committee also announced that seven candidates were cleared. They are Honourable Chukwuemeka Nwogbo, Patrick Obianwu, Paul Odenigbo, John Okechukwu Emeka, Hon Uche Lillian Ekwunife, John Nwosu and Chief Willie Obiano.
