The leadership of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) has suspended the Governor of Imo State, Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha’s membership of the party.
The suspension was announced after a meeting of the National Executive Council of the party in Abuja on Saturday.
Apart from the Governor’s suspension, the NEC also disbanded the exco of the Imo State Chapter of the party. In order not to leave a vacuum, it was announced that a 21-man Committee will be set up to run the affairs of the party in the state until a congress is held.
Street Journal’s findings revealed that the suspension might have been as a result of recent activities of the Governor which point in the direction that he is set to dump APGA for the newly registered All Progressives Congress. The Governor had declared for APC on May 7, 2013 during activities marking his second year in office and has also promised to ensure that APC wins the South Eastern zone in the 2015 elections.
