The Economic and Fnancial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday grilled the former Governor of Kwara State, Senator Bukola Saraki over allegations bordering on fraud.
The former Governor made himself available to tmmission after his arrival from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia where he had gone to perform the lesser Hajj.
Operatives of the EFCC confirmed that the former Governor turned himself in on Monday and he was interrogated. calls to Mr Wilson Uwujaren to confirm if he has been reeased were not answered as of the time of filing tis report.
Street Journal’s findings revealed that the anti- graft commissio has been investigating allegations of grandiose looting and fraud that trailed Saraki’s 8 years as Governor of Kwara State. It has also been alleged that Senator Saraki has been placed on a pension allegedly running into over a billion Naira per annum by the Kwara State Government.
Street Journal gathered that the Commission had extended an invitation to the former Governor about two weeks ago. A message from Senator Saraki’s Twitter account stated that the Senator “honoured EFCC’s invitation and has since returned home”.
