Alhaji Sani Zangon Daura, Nigeria’s former Minister of Agriculture died on Friday. Daura who served as Minister for Agriculture in the first term of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo was appointed in 1999. He was later moved to the Ministry of Environment where he was till he was dropped in a cabinet reshuffle in 2001.
Sani Daura who hails from Daura, Katsina State was a visible figure in the politics of the old Kaduna State in the Second Republic. He lost the governorship ticket of the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) to Alhaji Lawal Kaita in 1979 after which Kaita was defeated by Balarabe Musa of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).
He was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF).
