Governor Danbaba Suntai of Taraba State has dissolved the Taraba State Executive cabinet. All Special Advisers have also been relieved of their positions, Special Assistants were however left to continue with their duties.
The dissolution of the cabinet was announced by the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Silvanus Giwa at a news conference in Jalingo.
Street Journal has also been informed that the Governor has approved the appointment of the state’s immediate past Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice as the Secretary to the State Government. The Governor has also appointed Aminu Jika as his new Chief of Staff. It is the second time Jika is being appointed as the Governor’s Chief of Staff, having first been appointed when Governor Suntai assumed office in 2007. Both appointees are to be sworn in by 2 pm at the Government House, Jalingo.
The Commissioners have been directed to hand over to their Permanent Secretaries while the Special Advisers were directed to hand over at the Government House.
A day after he arrived from an overseas treatment which kept him away from his duty post for about 10 months, the Governor wrote to the House of Assembly stating that he was ready to resume duties as the Chief Executive of the state.
Street Journal’s findings showed that most members of the political class have not seen the Governor since he arrived on Sunday. On Tuesday, checks revealed that the State Commissioner of Police and the Director of the Department of State Security were prevented from seeing the Governor by family members.
