The Ondo State Police Command has announced the arrest of some of its officers at the police pin down point along Ore-Benin expressway for allegedly killing the driver of an unregistered truck.
The State Commissioner of Police, Patrick Dukumo made this known while speaking with journalists in his office in Akure.
The CP said the deceased, identified as Friday Igbinedion, was allegedly shot dead in the early hours of Friday and his body has since been deposited at a mortuary in Ore pending interrogation of the policemen.
The Commissioner said necessary punishment would be melted out on the culprits.
This is the second time within a week that officers would be arrested for violating ethics of the policing profession. An officer was arrested and later dismissed in Lagos earlier in the week after he was caught soliciting for a bribe of N 25,000 from a motorist. In spite of the internal cleansing system of the police however, there seems to be no end in sight to misconduct on the part of officers.
