The embattled Majority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon Chidi Lloyd was on Wednesday granted bail by a High Court sitting in Port Harcourt. He was admitted to bail in the sum of N 10 million with three sureties in like sum. The court ruled that 2 of the sureties must be resident in the court’s jurisdiction where they must own landed properties while the third must be a senior public servant. Hon Lloyd is also to submit his international passport to the court all through the duration of the trial.
The lawmaker’s counsel has however filed an application urging the court to dismiss all the charges brought against his client.
Justice Latan Nyordee also fixed November 21, 2013 for the commencement of trial. The Majority Leader is facing charges bordering on attempted murder,assault and malicious damage sequel to the fracas that took place in the Rivers State House of Assembly.
