One of the Lebanese nationals facing trial over links with the Hezbollah militant group on Friday told a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja that there was a plot to assassinate the Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Nigeria, Fuad Rajih. Apart from having links with the Hezbollah Terrorist organization, the Lebanese have also been accused of plotting to attack the Israeli Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital. Ahmad Roda who spoke of the assassination plot said it was one Hassan Tahir that intimated him about it. said in court on Friday that one Hassan Tahir, told him about the plot.
He told the court he was not aware whether the plot was carried out or not.
Meanwhile, HassanTahir is still at large. Ahmad Roda is standing trial alongside Mustapha Fawaz, the owner of the popular Amigo Supermarket in Abuja and Abdallah Thaini.
Justice Ademola Adeniyi granted the request of the accused persons to be moved to Kuje Prison sequel to an application they filed through Ahmaed Raji, their counsel, in which they stated that they no longer felt comfortable in custody of the Directorate of State Security where they had hitherto been remanded.
The accused persons told the court that they were being made to go through interviews by foreigners.
The judge adjourned the case till Monday, August 5, when the defence is expected to open its evidence.
