
The Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi on Monday dissolved the state’s executive council, with all the appointees including the Secretary to the State Government, Commissioners, Special Advisers and Assistants relieved of their positions.
The decision was communicated to all those affected during an executive council meeting on Monday. Though the reasons for the dissolution remain unknown, findings revealed that one of the things that might have necessitated the action was the allegation that “official secrets” usually find their ways out.
In a statement that announced the dissolution of the council which was signed by Dotun Omokemi, the Director of Cabinet in the state’s civil service, the reason given for the action was to enable the Governor make room for fresh blood to be injected in the quest to serve the state better. All the Commissioners were also directed to hand over to the Permanent Secretaries in their various ministries.
