A Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja, on Friday sentenced Tahal Roda, a Lebanese to live imprisonment having been found guilty on two counts of criminal conspiracy which contravene Section 1(14) (a) (i) of Miscellaneous Offences Act, CAP M17, LFN, 2004. He was sentenced to life imprisonment on each count with the sentences running concurrently.
The court also dismissed the 16-count criminal charge that was preferred against one Mustapha Fawaz, the Lebanese co-owner of Amigo Supermarket and Abdullahi Tahini. Fawaz and his compatriots had been arraigned before Justice Ademola Adeniyi over their alleged involvement in the illegal importation of arms into Nigeria.
It was alleged that Thahini, who was arrested at the Aminu Kano International Airport with more than $ 61,000 was a financier of terrorism in Nigeria. They were all alleged to be members of the Hezbollah terrorist organization.
