Baraje, Sam Jaja also suspended
The internal squabbles that have rocked the Peoples Democratic Party for some time took a new turn on Monday as the party wielded the big stick against some of its members. The party announced the suspension of the just reinstated National Secretary, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola. Oyinlola had been reinstated last weekend as the party’s National Secretary by the Court of Appeal and was expected to resume at the party’s national secretariat.
The party also announced the suspension of Abubakar Baraje, the Chairman of the New PDP, a faction that had caused the mainstream of the party some embarrassment. Also affected by the suspension was Senator Ibrahim Kazaure as well as Dr Sam Jaja, the Vice Chairman of the New PDP.
PDP spokesman, Olisa Metuh who announced the suspension at a press conference in Abuja disclosed that the suspended members’ cases have been referred to the party’s disciplinary committee for further action.
On questions concerning the resumption of Prince Oyinlola as the National Secretary, Metuh stated that the party has not received a copy of the judgment.
