The Police Command of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, on Monday confirmed that there was a gun attack on the car of the Minister of Aviation, Princess Stella Oduah.
According to the police, shots were fired at the car by yet to be identified gunmen.
While confirming the incident, DSP Altine Daniel, the Command’s spokesperson disclosed that the attack occurred around 10 pm on Friday. She however stated that the incident was not reported to the police until around 5.30 pm on Monday.
Daniel also made it known that the Minister was not in the vehicle when the attack took place.
The Police PRO stated that some metal objects were found in the vehicle. She further stated that the objects do not look like conventional bullets. Daniel said “the objects will be subjected to ballistic test”.
The Minister’s Special Adviser, Joe Obi, said that the attack took place at the Ministers’ Hill, Maitama in Abuja.
“Fortunately, the minister was not in the car at the time the attack took place. An official report has been made to the police and the police are currently investigating it,” he said.
The Aviation Minister came under severe criticism recently when it was discovered that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) bought two vehicles for her at the sum of N 255 million.
