A training aircraft belonging to the International Aviation College, Ilorin crashed on Monday with three crew members on board. No life was however lost in the accident that occurred within the vicinity of the Ilorin International Airport during a routine exercise. The crash involved an Austrian made single-engine Diamond aircraft with Registration Number 5N-BRD.
The news of the crash was broken by Captain Nuhu Abdulkareem, the Acting Rector of the college as he addressed a press conference after the crash. He disclosed that Monday’s crash was the recorded incident since the inception of the institution.
Captain Abdulkateem also stated that the three crew members of the aircraft were certified fit after the crash having been taken to a hospital for medical examination.
The Acting Rector went on to state that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority as well as the Accident Investigation Bureau have been notified about the incident and their officials were being expected to commence investigation as of the time of filing the report.
