Nelson Mandela Finally Bows Out at 95

Former South African President, Nelson Mandela has passed on. The well revered leader died in Johannesburg on Thursday evening after a protracted illness that saw him going in and out of hospital.
As a member of the African National Congress, he was at the forefront of the anti-apartheid struggle. He spent 27 years in prison and when he became President after his release, he stunned many when he preached forgiveness rather than vengeance.
Mandela, the first black President to rule South Africa had so many honours to his name including the 1993 Nobel Prize for peace.
His status as an elder statesman was never in doubt. He refused to run for a second term in office having ruled his country between 1994 and 1999.
